Abuse is spiteful and degrading... no one deserves it. Abuse devastates body, mind and spirit no matter whether the target of the abuser is male or female; no matter whether the type of abuse is physical, mental, emotional, spiritual or financial. There are no differences among the broken hearts and wounded souls of all.
What is different, however, are the familial, social, and lawful reactions to the gender of the battered person and how each live and cope. Battered men do react differently and are treated differently by society than are battered women. The opposite is also true.

Are you here because you are being abused? Do you think you might be, but aren't sure? Is someone you know in an abusive relationship and you want to help? Are you planning to leave or want to leave an abusive relationship and you need support? Do you want to leave but you are afraid or don't know how to go about it?

Are you here because you have recently ended an abusive relationship and you need to understand what happened to you, how it happened, why it happened and how you can best reclaim your life?

Welcome to Heart 2 Heart. A kind and loving resource for abused men. A place to begin understanding and healing... all in complete privacy... all in your own time. Heart 2 Heart is free; there are no pop-ups, no advertisements and nothing to buy.

Heart 2 Heart... is a safe, quiet place to find answers.

hi, i'm new here & i'm not exactly sure how this works. so i'll try to be brief.

i found by this page by browsing information on different kinds of abuse. it is very interesting because i've never heard before about battered men. but i think that is what i've experienced for so long. not physical abuse, but very strong verbal put downs & tear downs, etc. for a very long time. as well as emotional.

we've been married for over 20 years, & have two children that are now grown. she left me almost two years ago, & i'm just beginning to realize the abuse that i have endured. i think to myself, i must have some issues as well, to find myself in such an abusive relationship. but how can i change anything now, or should i ?

trying to understand things here would probably be a good start.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your post. This website mainly functions as a reference guide which provides useful information and links to other related sites that deal with the issue of emotional abuse. Sometimes we are emotionally battered. And I guess this is the case when people are victims of emotional abuse. It leaves no visible scars, but the wounds inside our hearts and minds are deep and we haven't deserved them.

I will email you the guide to key information on emotional abuse, because sometimes, we find many answers and we gain a deeper understanding when we get some brief and easy-to-read material.

Change often brings about further change. When we change what doesn't work within us, we often evoke a different response from others. It's not a matter or whether you should or shouldn't do. It's a matter or doing what makes you feel better and is more convenient to your heart, to your soul and your self esteem.

Part of going through the process of change is starting somewhere. Like you just did now. Sharin our stories and listening to different viewpoints often empowers us and makes us feel more confident by gaining new information.

I will now email you the materials so that you can browse them a bit and the best advice I can give you (at least this is what it worked for me) is to read as much as you can about this subject, watch videos, etc. so that you can have better tools to deal with and solve the problem of emotional abuse.

All the best :)
