Scammers use the Internet to scam people. Sociopaths, con artists, etc., abound on-line these days. Their modus operandi is simple, they appear lovely and genuine to the eyes of others, while they are true abusers. They have a keen eye to spot their next victim. They aim at people who have been emotionally abused and need affection. They do not show their true colors until after the victim is fully emotionally involved and it will be highly unlikely that the the victim will refuse to to "help" these wolves in sheep's clothing. Please report scammers or people you suspect could be scammers, as soon as you can.

Los estafadores usan Internet para engañar y estafar a la gente. Los sociópatas y los embaucadores abundan en la red, en estos días. Su modo de operar es simple, se presentan como personas amorosas y genuinas a los ojos de los demás, cuando en realidad son verdaderos abusadores. Another newbie was recently banned for invting people to join some multilevel business that would make you rich in no time... Nothing to do with the subject matter of this network.

I have just banned a member from India (apparently) who was posting travel information and promoting some kind of travel business. I don't know if he or she was a scammer, but certainly, trips to India (or wherever) have nothing to do with our main subject.

Yes, that's absolutely true. I guess the most notorious scams are know as the Nigerian and the Russian scams. This gives Nigerian and Russian people a bad name, so it's important to learn to think out of the box and beware of people acting the way you metioned here, those are the real scammers, regardless of where they are located.

Yes, and may I add that there is a new slant on the "Nigerian scam", where men target women, first of all in a friendly chatty way, and then after making the friendship, and explaining that he works, for example, for a technology company or such kind, and travels abroad, etc. etc. he some days later announces he has been "held" in Nigeria, they've taken his passport etc., and his money, and he needs desperately to buy his way out and home, to the U.S. or wherever. I know of at least one intelligent woman who bought into this!
